Cool is defined as fashionably attractive or impressive.  I may not be the coolest person around, but I am grateful I get to hang out with some cool people from my church.  Well, for starters, my wife is one of the coolest people I know, so how we ended up together is beyond me.  I have always, always wanted to be cool; my father was the epitome of cool: he was a cowboy, he rode a Harley, and he could build or fix anything with his hands.  Most importantly, every one who came in contact with my father loved him because he was cool.

Then, there are guys like 3 time World Champion Surfer the late Andy Irons; he was a rock star in the surfing world.  AI won a world title three years in a row while he was battling bipolar disorder; now, that is cool!  Andy was fearless, and if you have ever seen him surf you know what I am talking about.  There is a movie out about his life, and it is called “Kissed By God.”  It is a really good documentary, but it is also really sad; such a cool dude gone too soon.

There are some other celebrities that I think ooze coolness: George Strait, the late Chris LeDoux, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James.  No matter how hard I try I will never be as cool as the people I just mentioned.  Oh well, at least I can watch or listen to them be cool.  I know there are many other people I could name, but that would take a while.

The coolest one of all in my mind has to be Jesus Christ.  He was a carpenter, He could heal the sick, raise the dead, and he had to deal with twelve disciples who were loyal but not always faithful; I suppose they were like a lot of Christians today, but hey, none of us are perfect.  The coolest thing anyone has ever done was dying for our sins when He did not have to.  Jesus died for our sins simply because He loves us.  Pretty cool, huh?

Perhaps all I can do is let the coolness of Jesus show through me, so people can see just how cool He is because I believe we all admire the cool ones.
