All in all, I have a good life, and I am happy to be alive. God created the heavens and earth for us, and it is really amazing if you think about it. God created birds to sing for us as well; even if they poop on our vehicles sometimes.
When I was a kid, my family would go to Grandma and Pop’s house every Sunday to hang out and eat supper, as Grandma was an excellent cook. I loved spending time with family and shooting pool in the basement with my brothers and my cousin. I remember one Sunday I took the BB gun into Grandma and Pop’s backyard, and I was looking for something to shoot. I saw a robin in a tree and thought I would try to find out if I was a good shot; as it turned out, I was, as I shot the robin and killed it, as it fell to the ground. I felt horrible and helpless as I looked down at the lifeless bird; I had taken a life that deserved to live because God created it. The bird had just as much right to live as I do.
I still feel bad about it to this day. I have realized that God does not work like a mean kid with a BB gun picking us off one by one. God wants us to live life to the upmost of our ability in His beautiful creation including the animals; now, as an adult, I have great respect for God’s creatures: I am one of those drivers who brakes for squirrels, so do not ride my bumper. I do not hunt because I do not own a gun, and even if I did own a gun I do not think I would hunt; maybe it is because I killed an innocent bird when I was a kid. I doubt the government would allow me to own a firearm in the first place.
I want animals to live as long as they can because they bring us joy in a cruel world that man has contrived, and they also look so happy while working to survive. It breaks my heart to see a dead animal lying in or on the side of a road; call me corny, but it is the truth. When I see a dead animal I feel sorry for, I pray to God that He will give that animal a home at our place in heaven, and I look forward to seeing and spending time with them one sweet day. I believe I will remember each of them and where and when I prayed to have them at our heavenly home. Maybe I am too sensitive, but I do not care; I love God’s creatures, and I respect them as well.
I do not want to come off as a hypocrite for writing this; I eat meat, but the Bible says humans are above animals, but that does not mean I should go around killing birds in trees in my spare time. I am mainly talking about the little animals we do not eat, or at least, the animals I would not eat. I know Tigers do not eat grass. Also, I am not against hunting if the animal is providing food for someone. I am definitely against trophy hunting where someone kills a giraffe or an elephant just to hang their head on a wall.
Okay, I have said my peace. I hope you have a great day, and I love you all!
Take care and God bless!
Chris
