The other day I was driving through the mountains with my lovely wife, Crystal, and I found myself studying the faces of the drivers passing by in the other lane. It occurred to me that we all have our own perspective; for example, I was so tired while driving and so bored because my lovely wife was immersed in her phone, I started studying the faces of the drivers in the oncoming cars. Now saying we all have our own perspective is probably stating the obvious, correct?
Well, I apologize, but I find this weird, disturbing and fascinating. What struck me the most was that everyone we passed seemed so unhappy, and it rubbed off on me a little; however, I also felt bad for them and their frowning faces. Can we not be happy just to be alive? I hate to rain more on your already wet parade, but let’s turn that frown upside down and change our perspective.
When our perspective is down in the dumps, we could probably find almost any verse in the Bible, read it, and find something negative to say about it: that verse is too long, it doesn’t make sense to me, this is boring… but when you have regular perspective you are at least open to understanding and perhaps a little optimistic. In the end, our perspectives that can be so different actually makes the world a beautiful place to be. Instead of living in the daily grind, smile at someone who looks like they could use a pick-me-up; now that is perspective I can get behind.
Take care and God bless!
Chris
