Car Guy

I am a car guy, and if you have ever seen my car you can tell that. My Daddy was a real car guy: meaning, he could buy a car, fix it up, engine and all, and he could resell it if he wanted to. Of course, my Daddy had the tools and the place to work on his cars, and I, as a kid, would be out there helping him any way I could; whether it be going to exchange a wrench, pointing out a spot he missed after spraying a car with primer or paint, or just hanging out and learning something new. My favorite thing was working on a car at night while my oldest brother and Daddy worked on the car, and I got to hold the flashlight; I was too young to do anything else.

I am no mechanic by any means, but there are still things I am capable of doing. It makes me happy to do things to my car because it reminds me of being with Daddy all those years ago. My car is a 2008, so I do not have the tools to do some of the things I want to because it is the newest car I’ve had to date. I need new headlight lamps but the bumper has to come off, and I do not have the right tools. I guess I could get some, but I also need a front splitter installed, and our friend Jordan has a shop and he’s going to help install them when he gets his lift. Thank God for real car guys like Jordan and my Daddy!

I really got into cars even more after The Fast And The Furious franchise came out. It was like almost every vehicle I had I would try to make it look like a euro or JDM car like in the movie. The first movie is my favorite one by the way. Then I would say Fast Five is my second favorite. Yes, I was living vicariously through the Fast And The Furious; I know this was not the best scenario for my life, but The Fast and Furious franchise did bring about a new culture, and probably encouraged young men and women to become auto mechanics for imported cars. Do not get me wrong, as I like American muscle but one must have money these days to fix one up.

A car guy or gal not only enjoys driving and tinkering with their car; they can usually tell about other cars they like or dream about having. A bond between a man/woman and their car is something that can last a lifetime; and cars can also bring people together.

I apologize, as I did not mean to bore you. I will try to do better next time.

Take care and God bless!

Chris
